The rectangular leather-lined top with three frieze drawers to each side, on a rectangular pedestal, one side with six graduated drawers, the other side with false drawers around a kneehole and with tapering turned and reeded columns to each corner, the locks stamped GR with a crown

Lot Essay

Designed in robust Grecian fashion with plinth-supported and reed-wrapped pillars, the library-table resembles an aggrandised George IV 'Davenport' desk, as it incorporates a drawer-chest, whose façade presents a recess flanked by trompel'oeil nest of 'dressing-table' drawers.
