Four lacquer kogo [incense boxes] and a tebako [accessory box]
Edo - Meiji Period (17th - 20th century)
The first, a rectangular kogo with a flush-fitting cover decorated in red lacquer with Hotei and his sack, brown lacquer interior; a tebako [accessory box], rectangular, with flush-fitting cover, kamakura-bori style with chrysanthemum and foliage; another, circular, with flush-fitting cover, carved black and red lacquer, with a goose on a stylised wave ground, the rim with a geometric design, black lacquer interior; the fourth circular with flush-fitting cover, carved red lacquer, depicting a temple among pine trees and rocks, the base with a dragon and a sacred pearl and a rounded square box and cover in carved red lacquer with a panel depicting a bird in plum blossom
