Four lacquer kogo [incense boxes]
Edo Period (19th century)
The first, hexagonal with flush-fitting cover, decorated in iroe-hiramaki-e on a fundame ground with karako musicians, nashiji interior; another of lobed form decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e with a karashishi, nashiji interior; a circular box and flush-fitting cover inlaid in gold and silver on a mokume ground with scattered cherry blossom and maple leaves, and a lozenge-shaped box and cover decorated in gold hiramaki-e on a gyobu-nashiji ground with butterflies
