Lithographed frontispiece, title, additional title and list of subscribers, and 180 full-page lithographed arms, 3 OF THESE WITH HAND-COLOUR (Wullsdorff, Zöge von Manteuffel, and Mohrenschildt). (Spotting, more pronounced in the first and last gatherings, some leaves repaired in the inner margin, a very few folded by the binder with wear in the fore-margin.) 19th-century cloth, spine ruled and titled in gilt, sides ruled in blind (corners rubbed, spine evenly faded). Provenance: Jules Robert (stamp).
FIRST EDITION of Damier's armorial of the knights of the Duchy of Estonia, which includes full-page arms for more than a dozen noble Russian families: Benkendorf, Bibikov, Bludov, Dolgorukii, Golitsyn, Kurakin, Murav'ev, Novosil'tsov, Orlov, Panin, Speranskii, Zubov, Toll, and Trotschinskii. The Stanford and NYPL catalogues describe their copies with 173 plates only.
