PIRATSKII, Konstantin A. A collection of prints for Peremeny v Obmundirovanii i Vooruzhenii Voisk Rossiiskoi Imperatorskoi Armii. [Changes in the Clothing and Arms of Troops in the Russian Imperial Army]. [St. Petersburg: 1857-1868].
483 chromolithographs (the first 2 vols 455 x 330mm, the next 400 x 320mm) by Konrad, Dekamp, Parshchikov and others, after Piratskii. Consisting of plates 1-498 without plates 143, 230, 349-354, 435, 442, 447, 472, 475, 494, and 496. (Occasional mostly marginal spotting and browning, more pronounced in vol. 3, a very few small marginal repairs, and a very few short tears). Contemporary green half-morocco, by Gaevskii with his ticket, and (vol. 3) half-sheep (worn, vol. 2 spine detached but present, vol. 1 spine lacking and lower board nearly detached, vol. 3 spine worn). Provenance: Life-Guards of the 2nd Artillery Brigade (bookplate and stamps in vol. 3).
NEARLY ALL OF THE FIRST 500 CHROMOLITHOGRAPHS from Piratskii's fine continuation of Viskovatov. This ran eventually to 705 plates including the various supplements. As Colas notes, complete sets are 'of the greatest rarity' because these plates were issued serially over the course of nearly 25 years. Colas 841; Lipperheide Qo13; Zaionchkovskii 1685.
