Lot Essay

Lucien Guitry was a friend of Toulouse-Lautrec. A well known actor, he played at Sarah Bernhardt's Théâtre de la Renaissance. In 1900, Toulouse-Lautrec designed a programme for a performance of Zola's L'Assomoir at the Théâtre de la Porte-St-Martin which Guitry directed.
This portrait was drawn at Mr Bourdoncle's house in la Mothe Loing.
