FIRST HALF 17TH CENTURY
A Flemish brass-mounted and gilt-tooled leather casket, late 17th/early 18th Century, decorated overall with scrolling foliage, the hinged and domed lid enclosing a green fabric-lined interior, the underside with the initials 'S H V W'; TOGETHER WITH a Flemish brass-mounted ebony-casket, mounted overall with pierced scrolling foliate panels depicting hunting scenes, the stepped and moulded lid centred by a panel decorated with a crowned coat-of-arms, enclosing a velvet lined interior, on turned brass feet, with remains of paper label inscribed in ink '1128...'
The larger casket: 7½ in. (19 cm.) high; 11½ in. (29 cm.) wide; 7½ in. (19 cm.) deep; the smaller casket: 4¾ in. (12 cm.) high; 6½ in. (16.5cm. ) wide; 4¼ in. (11 cm.) deep (2)
