Painted on mother-of-pearl, the Mother of God in the centre of the composition, accompanied by St. Peter and John the Theologian, St. Sergei kneeling to the right, behind the Monk Mikhei covering his eyes with his hands, set in a silver-gilt frame, the applied spandrels made of cloisonné enamel, minute figures of cherubs appearing in the four corners
