Lot Essay

Angelo Tricca was a lithographer, antique dealer, and restorer, but above all he was an ingenious draughtsman of caricatures in pen and ink, watercolour and even oil in small format. He was frequently seen in the Caffè Michelangelo with the Macchiaioli painters.
The Florentine osterie Gigi Porco, together with Beppe Sudicio, became very à la mode in the second half of the 18th century and stayed open all night.
