A mother-of-pearl inlaid black lacquer tray, 17th century
of square section with an everted rim, decorated with a scholar fishing on a river bank and a fisherman on a sampan amidst trees and foliage, the rim with foliate floral scrolls, the undersides inlaid with auspicious emblems -- 7¼in. (8.5cm.) wide.
