A FINE AND VERY RARE GE-TYPE VASE
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735)

The well potted oviform body rising to a wide cylindrical neck with a slightly lipped mouth, all supported on a splayed foot pierced with two rectangular apertures at the sides, applied overall with an attractive even pale greenish-grey glaze suffused with irregular dark brown crackles, the footrim dressed with a brown wash

Lot Essay

Compare with an 18th century imitation Junyao vase of the same form in the Baur Collection illustrated by J. Ayres, Chinese Ceramics in the Baur Collection, vol. 2, Geneva, 1999, no. 263. A similar Yongzheng-marked Jun-type vase was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 30 October 2002, lot 230 and illustrated in Sotheby's Thirty Years in Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 2003, no. 141.
