QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY

The tiered base supported on cloud-form feet below a fey-fret border, decorated around the sides in coloured enamels with a wide band of bats above lotus blooms interspersed by angular scrolls, the top similarly decorated with lotus blooms and fitted with two removable miniature baluster vases and covers either side of a central inkwell with a pierced domed cover, and an oblong pen compartment and domed cover decorated with confronting dragons either side of the knop handle cast as a pearl, all reserved on a turquoise ground
