Lot Essay

Born Princess Alexandra Friederike Henriette of Saxe-Altenburg, she was married in St. Petersburg in September 1848 to Grand Duke Constantine Nikolaevich, second son of Tsar Nicholas I and younger brother of the future Tsar Alexander II. She had six children and was chief of the 16th regiment of Dragoons 'Glukhov'.
