AN EGYPTIAN BRONZE FIGURE OF BASTET ON A RELIQUARY BOX
LATE PERIOD, DYNASTY XXVI-XXX, 664-343 B.C.
Cast as a unit, the lion-headed goddess enthroned, clad in a long striated skirt, adorned with incised bracelets, armlets and a broadcollar, her navel indicated, wearing a uraeus-fronted solar disk, her fisted palms at her thigh, the right facing down, the left facing in, the throne sides decorated with a scale pattern within a border, the back of the throne with three lotuses, with a thin rectangular integral plinth atop a narrow rectangular shrine with a cavetto cornice
