AN EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SHABTI
PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 304-30 B.C.
Turquoise blue in color with the inscription and tripartite wig in contrasting dark blue, depicted mummiform, his fisted hands emerging from beneath his vestment, holding agricultural implements in each hand, a seed bag over his left shoulder, his chin beard braided, the five columns of hieroglyphs, largely unreadable, likely containing chapter six from the Book of the Dead for "the Scribe of Offerings(?) Minwy(?)," and possibly a filiation formula reading, "The Chantress(?) Pupuy-iut(?)"
