Further details
The cicadas, with their delicate iridescent wings carved in rock crystal and mother-of-pearl, clasp a diamond between its front legs.
These fascinating bejewelled creatures carry a spiritual significance as the symbol of the cycle of life. Man is reborn just as the cicada sheds its skin and memory of the previous life becomes dim. He recalls his prior existence no more than the cicada recalls the shell from which it has emerged. In Buddhism, this cast-off skin, represents a spiritual realisation and ecstasy, an advancement of the metaphysical life. The path towards enlightenment is likened to the metamorphosis of the cicada.
