MARK OF JOHN MORTIMER AND JOHN SAMUEL HUNT, LONDON, 1841
The cup waisted cylindrical and on cast foliage decorated pedestal foot, with an egg and dart border and two applied cast greyhound handles, one side repoussé chased with a coursing scene, on square plinth foot, one side with an engraved inscription, marked on foot and on plinth, the foot further stamped 'Mortimer and Hunt' and '647'

The inscription reads 'Presented to Alexander Graham Esqr of Capilly by the Coursers of Great Britain as a token of their gratitude for his unceasing and successful exertions to promote the sport of coursing throughout the kingdom 1841 '
