Masriadi does commit to mining popular culture for his iconogrohy in his painting.

Respect to Alcasar portrays 2 boxers in confrontation. An otherwise violent situation is turned into a mocked and comical context as the characters are caricaturised with exaggerated facial expressions. The predominant red hue intensifies the sense of drama which in turn draws the on lookers to watch and to probe. The comic feel to the work underlined a tragedy in the real life of the protagonists. Alcasar is a famous boxer from Panama who eventually passed away after this match. The composition is directly taken from a photo shot of the match as reported in the newspaper. Masriadi has actually kept the newspaper cutting and attached it onto the reverse of the work.

The title of the image is literally Receive a hit and the caption reads "Panaman boxer Pedro Alcazar (left) received a right-hand hit from the opponent Mexican boxer, Fernando Montiel, during the WBO boxing match at the MGM Grand Garden , Las Vegas, Saturday (22 June 2002). Forty days after the match, Alcazar passed away in his hotel room."

Boxers, footballers and basket ball players, the sports fascinates Masriadi and he uses them as his constant subjects in his oeuvres. In this regard, the artist reveals an almost childish fascination with the games and sports that are typically the interests of a boy. It is perhaps with this ability to be continued to be bewildered and enchanted that lends to the charming quality of the work even if the message is heavy and morbid.
