FIRST EDITION OF THIS SCARCE LEWIS AND CLARK ITEM. Reference is made on page 4 to "two enterprising conductors of this adventure, captains Lewis and Clark," and their instruction to attempt a passage to the Pacific. It is noted that "from them on their return in 1805, a narrative full of instruction may be expected." The report recommends exploration of Arkansas, Red, Mexicano and other rivers of the Southwest VERY RARE: according to American Book Prices Current, the last copy sold at auction was sold at Sotheby's New York, 25 November 1975, lot 253.
