The jug of globular form with flaring rim and cylindrical loop handle, the cream ground modelled in relief and painted with four donkeys, above a band of linear decoration, yellow rim and handle, the four circular plates decorated at the centre with an animal, the wells with linear and lobed decoration

Lot Essay

Sophie de Lerma, also known under the name of her deceased husband as Sophie van Stolk, moved to Vetri near Naples in 1925 were she took over a majolica workshop. After the death of her husband in 1926 she started to work with Luigi de Lerma whom she married in 1931
