Provenance: Robert Proctor (1868-1903), celebrated bibliographer and friend of William Morris'; Albert May Todd (bookplate).
ROBERT PROCTOR'S COPY OF THE DEFENCE OF GUENEVERE, LIMITED EDITION, one of 300 copies from a total edition of 310. A bibliographer of early printed books and a noted expert on typography, Proctor's interest in the Kelmscott Press led to an aquaintance with Morris and Sydney Cockerell. On Frederick Startridge Ellis' death in 1901, Proctor became one of the trustees under Morris' will. Peterson A5.
