Opus One--Vintage 1991
Napa Valley
Slightly depressed corks
"A wine of imposing stature. Color wise, evolution has been far kinder to this bottle than many other early '90s Napa bottlings. Slow to open; initial impressions of a slightly burnt (smoky?), decayed bouquet intertwined with floral and fruit extract; surprisingly, lingering oak aromas; sturdy, tannic frame incorporating red plum, cherry, blackberry fruits. Fresh. Finishes dry with grip. Another decade+." Tasted at Christie's March 2003. ST
