Further details
It was really only in George III's reign that the country began the habit of celebrating the Sovereign's jubilees. The 25th October, 1809, the Golden Jubilee of George III, was marked both at home & in the colonies. The Royal Family attended a private service at Windsor & a grand fete & firework display at Frogmore House, whist in London the Lord Mayor & Corporation went in procession to a service of thanksgiving at St.Paul's Cathedral prior to attending a dinner at the Mansion House.
