A PAIR OF VICTORIAN SILVER-GILT CAST FIGURAL CANDLESTICKS IN MID-18TH CENTURY STYLE,
MARK OF SAMUEL WHITFORD, LONDON, 1873,
The columns modelled as male figure with naked torso, supporting foliate-embellished capitals on triangular stands, the lower part of the columns tapering & fluted below the draped clothing of the male figure gathered round his waist, descending to hexafoil bases decorated in relief with three dolphins & three masks, the fixed nozzles with gadroon rims, 10 3/8 in. high (26.4 cm.), 56 oz. (2)
