A LATE 19TH CENTURY RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER & CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL THRONE SALT,

With Pan-Slavic decoration in red, dark blue, bright green & mauve the cover draped in a trompe-l'oeil napkin with rhyme in Cyrillic letters, "Bez soli bez khleba polovina obeda" translating as "Without salt & without bread, it's only half a meal", the chair-back depicting two cockerels, the body decorated with bands of zig-zags, dashes & other motifs, gilt interior, 3¼ in. high (8.5 cm.), 6.25 oz.
