Frances Richards is perhaps best known as wife of painter Ceri Richards, and was also an accomplished artist in her own right. During the 1940s she experimented with embroidery amongst other mediums, culminating in a one woman exhibition at the Redfern Gallery, from which these works were purchased by the present vendor.
Richards worked mainly as painter, illustrator and pottery designer. The embroideries presented here are reflective of her abstract style, but in a singular medium.
