composed of a lustring silk cap, lined with contemporary black and white chintz, a matching pair of sleeves; a pair of lawn mittens trimmed with lace and a ribbon trimmed cushion (7)

Lot Essay

This set has been conserved by the Textile Conservation Centre. Sold with the lot is a copy of the conservation history, along with commentaries by noted academics.

Also sold with the lot is a paper ticket inscribed Cap, Cuffs and lace Mittens, Temp Charles II, Supposed to have been worn by the young Duke of Monmouth in an early 19th century hand.
