Tagliolini's group closely follows the Roman wall painting in the Basilica which had been uncovered in the excavations at Herculaneum. Rocco Pozzi's engraving of the wall painting was published in Le Antichità di Ercolano (Napoli, Stamperia Reale, 1757), Vol. I, pl. 8.

Another example in the Museo e Gallerie Nazionali di Capodimonte, Naples, is illustrated by Angela Caròla-Perrotti, 'Le Porcellane dei Borbone di Napoli' Exhibition Catalogue (Naples, 1986), p. 434, no. 364; another in the Museo Duca di Martina, Naples, is illustrated by Alvar González-Palacios, Lo Scultore Filippo Tagliolini e la Porcellana di Napoli (Turin, 1988), no. 18; and the example in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence, is illustrated by Andreina d'Agliano, 'Le Porcellane Italiane A Palazzo Pitti' Catalogue (Florence, 1986), no. 146.
