Lot Essay

Dunn was born in Truro, Cornwall, and studied at Heatherley's Art School in London. He was Dante Gabriel Rossetti's studio assistant for twenty years during which time he produced a number of replicas of Rossetti's work.

This drawing is copied from Rossetti's red chalk composition Michael Scott's Wooing, dated 1866, now in the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow.
