AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY AMERICAN METALWARE STAMP BOX
MAKER'S MARK A MONOGRAM, PROBABLY CIRCA 1930
The cover enamelled with a pheasant within undergrowth & signed "Jacob Bates Abbott", gilt interior with a cylindrical fitting on one side to take a roll of stamps, the other side with a similar fitting half the size & open at top (perhaps to hold a dampener?), two slots at front through which the stamps are rolled, initialled to front "C.F.R.", 4 in. long (10 cm.); ALSO an English silver pot pourri box by Nathan & Hayes, Chester, 1913, retailed by Asprey, 8.75 oz. (2)
