Lot Essay

In his work records Eberlein describes these models as: '4. Ein Pagoten-Weibel mit einem Papagei und Postament von Thon boss.' and '5. Ein Pagotte mit einem Affen von Thon bosziert.'

Examples of these popular models are in the Untermyer Collection, and are illustrated by Yvonne Hackenbroch, Meissen and other Continental Porcelain, Faience and Enamel in the Irwin Untermyer Collection (London, 1956), no. 25. Also see Peter Wilhelm Meister, Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts, Sammlung Pauls (Frankfurt, 1967), Vol. I, pp. 243-245 for similar un-mounted examples.
