A VINCENNES SMALL CYLINDRICAL JAR AND COVER (POT-A-POMMADE)
CIRCA 1747-49
Of cylindrical form with a shallow domed cover, painted with a continuous frieze of scantily draped putti at various pursuits among branches and rockwork, the lower part with a band of puce scrolls between concentric circles, the cover with a putto in flight with a teathered bird and a butterfly above puce scroll and husk ornament within a brown line rim (finial a restored replacement, small rim chip to jar)
