A Chinese wood and repousse metal brush rest, 18th century
of horizontal S-shaped form, the right section inlaid with a rectangular repousse gilt-metal plaque depicting figures on horse back and foot racing after deer and other animals, the left side a slightly curved concave section, either end with notched bands for brush holding; and a carved wood mountain group with two scholars playing weiqi amongst rockwork and foliage, 18th/19th Century -- 5½in. (14cm.) wide. (2)
