A Chinese 'oil-spot' jar, Yuan dynasty (1279-1368)
of ovoid shape with a slightly everted mouth rim, the ribbed body covered on the exterior with a lustrous blackish-brown glaze decorated with fine rows of silvery spots, stopping short neatly above the unglazed foot rim -- 8 13/16in. (22.4cm.) high, wood stand.
