A GEORGE III SILVER VEGETABLE-DISH AND COVER
MARK OF ANDREW FOGELBERG AND STEPHEN GILBERT, LONDON, 1783
Circular and with slightly tapering sides, the conforming domed cover with a foliage-capped vase finial, the cover further engraved with foliage, with a part turned wood handle, later engraved with the Royal arms with the arms of Hanover below an elector's crown in pretence, marked near rim and on cover bezel, the base further engraved with a scratchweight '39"7'
8¾ in. (22 cm.) diam.
38 oz. (1,172 gr.)
The Royal arms are those of King George III as borne between 1801 and 1816.

Almost certainly supplied by the Royal Goldsmiths Jefferys and Jones to
John, 3rd Duke of Dorset (1745-1799) for his embassy to Paris in 1784, and then by descent
