Lot Essay

These classic British 'Gentleman's' shoes perfectly complimented costume designer, Lindy Hemming's carefully thought-out styling of Pierce Brosnan's James Bond. Having settled on Brioni to make Bond's suits, Hemming had a clear idea of the type of shoe that was needed: ...the silhouette of the jacket required quite a narrow trouser to balance it, so it was important to choose shoes with the right look and weight, which I was able to do from Church's ranges... Church's shoes have an unmistakably English look that are ideal for completing James Bond's classic English appearance.
