Johnny Morris has fond memories of working on The Italian Job. For six weeks he and the stunt crew filmed in Turin before the main unit joined them. As might be expected, there were several hair-raising moments during filming. One of these took place during the famous sequence where the Minis were driven into the back of the moving coach. Morris was a passenger in this sequence and the Minis were scheduled to drive up in a specific order. Just as Morris's Mini was getting in position to ascend the ramps, one of the other two Minis cut in and clipped Morris' car, causing it to flip over onto its roof. Apparently, the director Peter Collinson played the dangerous part of the gang member hanging out of the back of the coach, directing the drivers up the ramps.
