The son of Johannes Buschmann the Elder, Johannes II was born circa 1632, made Master and married in 1654 and died in 1674. He was the father of Johannes III, who moved from Germany to become the English maker John Bushman. He worked for the Duke of Braunschweig.
The paw feet on the present clock are unusual, although winged paw feet are shown on a square table clock by Johannes' brother, David Buschmann, dating from circa 1660 (see Klaus Maurice, Die deutsche Räderuhr, Part II, Munich, 1976, figs.600).
