Lot Essay

COMPARATIVE LITERATURE:
H.M. Vehmeyer, Clocks their Origin and Development 1320-1880,Vol.II, Gent, 2004, pp.632-633

The vacant cartouche on the present clock is unusual but the cartouche itself -- down to the click springs overlapping its edges -- may be compared to a Quare clock in the Vehmeyer collection, which also has similar dial and case features.
