Gerald Scarfe has had many exhibitions worldwide, including New York, Osaka, Montreal, Los Angeles, Sydney, Melbourne, Chicago and London, and fifty one-man shows. He has designed the sets and costumes for plays, operas and musicals in London, Houston, Los Angeles and Detroit. His film work includes designing and directing the animation for Pink Floyd's The Wall and Disney's Hercules. Gerald Scarfe has been the political cartoonist for the London Sunday Times for forty years, and has worked for The New Yorker magazine for fourteen years. Being a rarity at auction, Scarfe is much sought after, especially for his political cartoons. In most of these twenty lots, the last year of the political landscape in Britain is documented. By brilliant and bold draughtmanship, Scarfe lampoons the major figures and events of the present day, from Bush to Blair and Brown to Cameron, all are spared no mercy.
