Lot Essay

The bold undulating apron is virtually identical to that of a chest from the Marlborough-Glastonbury area, illustrated in William Hosley, The Great River: Art & Society of the Connecticut Valley, 1635-1820 (Hartford, 1985), p. 217, no. 97.
