Lot Essay

Charles, 2nd Earl Tankerville, married Camilla Colville, lady of the bedchamber to Queen Caroline, in about 1725. This plate from one of about eight Chinese services ordered by the Bennet family. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., vol. I, pp. 210 and 315.
