Although traditionally known as 'Governor Duff', (Diederick Duiver, the Dutch Governor-General of the East India Company from 1729-31), there is little evidence to support this; indeed, mention of such models of 'Dutch families' were listed in cargo sale lists of the British East India Company of 1701, see G.
