The rounded rectangular reeded top above a frieze with reeded corners, on four ring-turned supports and a concave-sided platform with acanthus-carved hipped legs, on brass paw feet, with three leaves

Lot Essay

A table of similar design with a brass plaque engraved 'S. MARTIN INVENIT ET FECIT', was with Randolph at The Grosvenor House Antiques Fair, 1978. The latter was illustrated in C. Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture: 1700-1840, Leeds, 1996, p. 320, fig. 608) and was thought to be by Samuel Martin of Norwich. A closely related table was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 12 February 1998, lot 194.
