A 20th century scrimshaw on mammouth bone Scrimshander**
David Adams (American, 20th century)
engraved on one side of fossilized mammouth bone, depicting a scrimshander scraping down teeth on the dock next to a ship. Inscribed "SCRIMSHANDER/Scraping Whale Teeth Smooth", signed "Adams" on the lower right. Displayed on a circular mahogany stand.
