A 19th century scrimshaw whale's tooth with a whaling scene**
a delicately engraved yet well detailed whaling scene around the circumference of the base of the tooth, and showing the whaleship, two (2) manned whaleboats, a pod of whales diving and spouting. In the sky are a number of stars, several with initials, including: M.D., W.A., J.D., and Matt. Possible whalers who died on the voyage.
