Maker's mark of Jan Schijfsma, Woudsend/Sneek, no apparent date letter, circa 1870, also struck with assaymaster's mark of Cornelis Lodewijk Bernhard
The stand on four claw-and-ball feet terminating in foliage applied with portraits, scrolling foliage and shells, the compressed baluster tea kettle on a spreading circular base, the body chased with scrolling foliage, flowers, trelliswork, gadrooning, tassels and strapwork, with similarly-decorated moulded swing handle and curved spout modelled as a femaly caryatid holding a cornucopia, the domed cover with similar decoration and putto finial
