Five Iron Sukashi Tsuba
Momoyama-Edo period (17th-18th century), the fifth inscribed Soheishi nyudo Soten sei
The first, a circular iron Shoami-school sukashi tsuba carved in the round with water droppers and inkstones and writing brushes, silver highlights; the second, a Kyoto-school circular iron sukashi tsuba designed in chrysanthemum form with a pine-bark crest hitsu-ana; the third, a circular iron sukashi tsuba carved with bamboo branches and leaves arranged in overlapping circles; the fourth, a Bushu-Ito-school oval iron sukashi tsuba carved in an Akasaka school-inspired design with geese over water plants in the rain, waterdrops on the plants highlighted in gold, hitsu-ana plugged in gold; the fifth, a Soten-school oval iron sukashi tsuba carved with scholars in a bamboo grove in iroe taka-zogan
