Muromachi period (16th century), the first inscribed Sa, the second signed Bitchu ju Sadatsugu
The first hira-zukuri, iori-mune with an itame forging pattern and a suguha tempered edge with nie, tang ubu with three holes, 11 3/8in. (28.9cm.) long; silver one-piece habaki; aikuchi koshirae comprising a black-lacquer saya with a spiral design and copper fittings all carved with clouds, a tiger and a dragon in katakiri-bori, the kozuka illegibly inscribed Echizen....
The second hira-zukuri, iori-mune, itame-hada with a ko-notare tempered edge, tang ubu with one hole, 10 5/8in. (27cm.) long, gilt-copper one-piece habaki; koshirae with a black-lacquer ishime-ji saya inlaid with fine copper wire wrapped around the body and mounted with a gourd kuri-gata in iron, copper and brass, shakudo nanako-ji kozuka decorated with a blossoming plum tree in shakudo and gold, the tsuka mounted with shakudo nanako-ji fuchi-gashira with plum tree and crescent moon in iroe taka-zogan and shakudo and gold menuki, oval shakudo plate tsuba (4)
