Lot Essay

Kim explains that her work is heavily influenced by the aesthetic of Zen Buddhism. She has exhibited widely in Asia, the United States and Europe over twenty years and now lives in New York. She had one-person exhibitions at the Espace Bastille, Paris, in 1996, and at the India International Center, New Delhi, in 2002. She was at the forefront of the new movement of abstract Korean ink painting that emerged in the early 1980s.
